There is a surprising quality to LOVE, be it the LOVE of God or the LOVE of His people. This Jewish folktale links the surprise to an old Temple legend.
There were once two brothers who farmed together. They shared equally in all of the work and split the profits exactly. Each had his own granary. One of the brothers was married and had a large family; the other brother was single.
One day the single brother thought to himself . "It is not fair that we divide the grain evenly. My brother has many mouths to feed, while I have but one. I know what I'll do, I will take a sack of grain from my granary each evening and put it in my brother's granary." So each night when it was dark, he carefully carried a sack of grain, placing it in his brother's barn.
Now the married brother thought to himself, "It is not fair that we divided the grain evenly. I have many children to care for me in my old age, and my brother has none. I know what I'll do, I will take a sack of grain from my granary each evening and put it in my brother's granary." So each night when it was dark, he carefully carried a sack of grain, placing it in his brother's barn as well.
Each morning the two brothers were amazed to discover that though they had removed a sack of grain the night before, they had just as many.
So one night the two brothers met each half way between their barns, each carrying a sack of grain. Then they understood the mystery. And they embraced and loved each other deeply.
There is a legend that says God looked down from heaven, saw the two brothers embracing, and said, "I declare this to be a holy place, for I have witnessed extraordinary love here." It is also said that it was on that spot that Solomon built the first temple.

There are many wonderfully amazing facts about Arizona. But there are two uniquely fascinating things you may not have ever heard about. To some, the first remains a great mystery, and the second, you would never guess.
The supernatural cloud
One of the most puzzling events in the skies of Arizona was a mysterious oval-shaped cloud that formed over Flagstaff in February 1963. Observers saw this large bright ring just before sundown as it floated gently across the skies. It continued to glow for a short time into the evening.
People hundreds of miles away claimed to have seen this incredible sight. Reports of this unusual cloud came in even as far as Mexico.
Photographs of the cloud showed it to be approximately fifty miles wide and almost twenty-seven miles above sea level. Researchers stated that this cloudy shape was in an area too high for moisture or new clouds to form.
No one could explain how this cloud formation came to be. But Reverend William Branham claimed it was an absolute sign from God. It also had a very special meaning in his ministry. The Reverend was familiar with such occurrences, being that he had other spiritual experiences throughout his life. However, for most others, it will always remain a mystery.
Finding out more strange facts about Arizona
You can find more information about this and other fabulous phenomena in several sources. One source is from a very interesting book titled, Weird Arizona, by Wesley Treat. Three other sources that have mentioned this particular event are The Time Magazine, Science Magazine, and Britannica Encyclopedia.
Surprising medicinal uses of the jumping cholla cactus
Arizona is famous for its abundant and diverse cacti, and one of these desert flora is the jumping cholla cactus. The teddy bear cactus is another name for it, though it sure is not as cuddly.
Believe it or not, all cacti are edible and even have medicinal qualities. But you would think this cholla cactus would not have any other use but to jump on anyone passing by. Whether it be you or your pet, this desert plant can cause undue pain. The joints break off easily when gently brushed against, causing you to think they are jumping on you.
However, despite its poor reputation, it will surprise you with its wonderful qualities. You can actually make a tea out of its roots, which is a diuretic. It can soothe urinary tract pain and kidney and bladder problems. You can also make tea from the gum that oozes from the injuries along the trunk or joints. The gum serves as a protectant and you can use it for healing in peptic ulcers or intestinal irritation. The gum can also be mixed with water and applied to bites, burns, and rashes.
So, as you can see, this is an amazing plant. And I am sure you will look at it with more interest now. However, it is a different story trying to make use of the jumping cholla cactus. Thank goodness we have modern medicinal products that you can easily purchase at the store. And that we don’t have to go digging in the desert to find relief for our ailments. You can find out more about this and other medicinal plants in the book Medicinal Plants of the American Southwest by Charles W. Kane.
Discovering these facts about Arizona can be a lot of fun
It is always fun to learn new and surprising facts about Arizona, especially if you live there. It gives you a better understanding of your surroundings. And you gain a new appreciation and respect for nature. Along the way, it is important for you to be properly informed and stay cautious and safe in your discoveries.
This beautiful, but simply written story was told in his own words by a humble minister named William Marrion Branham.
William Branham (we call him Brother Branham) began his life in the Spring of 1909. He was born into the poorest of families, deep in the hills of southern Kentucky.
Brother Branham grew up to be a mighty man of God. His ministry had no equal. He proved that Jesus Christ is as alive today as He was when He walked the shores of Galilee.
And as you will see, he also loved nature and the west.
There was a great rancher. and he owned a mammoth big
ranch, way in the northern part of Colorado near the
mountain section.
And on this certain ranch, the owner, or the caretaker, what we call there "the top, the foreman," he had about five daughters. They were all beautiful women, young, single.
And there was a little lady there, which was a cousin to these girls, that her father and mother had both deceased. And she was brought over there to be...to live with her---her uncle. And those girls, that they was in those fancy type of frilly frocks, you know, and--and--and they just took this poor little girl and just treated her like she was some animal. All the hard work poured right on her. She washed the dishes. She cleaned up. She fixed the bunks. She--she had to do it all. And they just stayed around with polished finger nails and manicure, the stuff on their lips, and all fixed up, you know, just prissy.
And especially did they do this when they heard that from Chicago, the big packing company who owned the outfit, his young, single son was coming to visit the ranch. Oh did they dike out in good clothes! Ah! And did they dress and make ready for his coming! And each night the conversation would be, they were going to vamp this young man and marry him. Who would...Then they would fall heir to all. So they made themselves ready.
These girls thought they would make themselves ready for the coming of this young man. Course, that poor little cousin, that reminds me of an off-cast somewhere. You could appreciate her. She was a beautiful woman. She was a nice little girl but she was not even considered among them, not as a relative. Not even considered.
So the poor little fellow just went ahead, working. And when the young man arrived...
They didn't know it, but he come looking for a wife.
And as he, looked upon them, he was disheartened.
And that night they were having something on the order...In them days, it's been long ago, they called the "Charleston," which is just like a rock-and-roll. And they were going to throw one of those big parties. Many of you people remember that old Charleston dance they did, back when I was a kid, when I was out there.
And, but, this boy was sick of that stuff. He was hunting for a real girl, so he slipped out of their party.
He looked around, after while, he was so discouraged. He walked out the door.
And going back, walking in the moonlight, towards the bunk house, he heard somebody kind of humming. And he looked around. And here went this little girl with a great big pan of dish water, way in the night, barefooted, to throw the dish water out. And as soon as he saw her, something another said, "That's her. That's the one." So he put hisself in the way. And when she...That's when she come back along the corral fence, why, he was standing there. And she almost fainted.
And he walked up to her, said, “Don’t be afraid of me.” Said, “I want to tell you something.”
He said "How do you do?" And he said,"What is your name?" And she told him her name, and it was the same name of the boss of the ranch. Said, "Then I can't understand how that this...Is that your father?"
Said, "No. I'm just a cousin, you see. My father and he were brothers. I've got the same name. But I...That, that's the boss."
She was so gotten that--that he would speak to her, even. And she hung her little head down, and she ran into the house.
He was there for a week or two, and he looked all around, everywhere. And he never said no more, but he kept watching her. And the night before he left...He was to leave the next morning. They was throwing another big party. And he watched for her. He couldn't find her. He knowed she'd had to do the dishes and so forth, so, the dirty work and all could be throwed off.
And this boy caught the little lady that night coming out. He said, "I've watched you. No one knows it but myself." He said, "I've come out here looking for a wife. And all that I have ever seen, you meet the requirements." How did she feel? The big man's son asking her now if she would be his wife.
And he said, "Will you marry me?"
"Oh," she said, "sir, I'm not worthy."
148 That’s the way the real Church feels about it, “I’m not worthy. I can…If I could just wash Your dishes, it’ll be all right.” Are you willing to take that place? Could you wash the dishes from the Supper? Would you be willing to be called fanatic? Or, would you be willing to be take the way with the Lord’s despised few? Are you willing?
58-1012 — The Sudden, Secret Going Away Of The Church
Rev. William Marrion Branham
He said, “But you are my choice.”
76 And wasn’t it nice when Jesus told you that…? You knowed you wasn’t worthy to be a Christian. You, there wasn’t nothing you could ever do, but He…It’s nothing…He—He just chose you. See? He…It’s His goodness, His mercy that He chose you. You didn’t choose Him, you know, He chose you. That’s right.
60-1231 — Revelation, Chapter Four Part I
Rev. William Marrion Branham
So, when he left, he told her he would be back at a certain time. Said, “When you begin to see…” It was the winter. Said, “When you begin to see those trees begin to bud, yonder, that mesquite and stuff begin to take on new life,” said, “then I’ll be back about spring time.”
I understand, I couldn’t say it was true, but the girl only got about a dollar and seventy-five cents a week for her labor. But she saved every penny of it. Why? She was getting ready for the wedding that was to be. She was saving her money for her wedding gown. For he said, “We’ll be married right here at the ranch when I come again.” She saved her money all year. She was happy. She didn’t mind washing the dishes. She didn’t mind ironing the clothes, or sweeping out the bunk house, or what-more. She was engaged to the boss of the ranch.
Finally, when the hour come, she begin to see this, the buds begin to come on the trees. She knew he would be there at anytime. And he said, “I’ll try to make it just at sundown, so we can be married and hurry off.” And every evening, at sundown, when she—she would go and get, make herself all ready, get her little wedding garment on, and wait at the gate.
And these little cousins come and laugh at her, and make fun of her, and said, “You poor, silly, ignorant child. To think that the—the man who owns…He’s the President, rather, of the company, that his boy would marry a dishwasher!”
And so, finally, one evening, while she was standing there, and they were laughing and making fun of her, and telling her she was silly. All at once, they heard some hoofs a prancing. What happened? Across the hill come a buckboard. Now, a buckboard is a little wagon, open top, very popular in the West. And the horses all jingled and everything, coming. Across the hill, come this carriage, and it stopped in front of the gate. And she run. She said, “I knew you would come.”
What a thing it was to see that little bride that made herself ready, jump out of the door, and around through the rose-covered trellis out there, to fly into the arms of the man that she loved, and to be her husband, to pick her up in like that, and be married and ride away.
60-1231 — Revelation, Chapter Four Part I
Rev. William Marrion Branham
She threw herself in his arms, and he said, “Darling, I have had a man stationed on this ranch since I left here last year, that’s brought me a report of everything that you’ve done.”
He said, “And he has told me that you’ve waited, and you’ve worked, and you’ve labored patiently, waiting for me to come. Now, you been a slave for a long time, but now your slave days are over. I have brought along the minister, right under this rose trellis, you become my wife.” He kissed her, put the wedding ring on her finger, and picked her up and set her in the buckboard, with his arm around her. And drove off, to find this new big palace on Outer Drive in Chicago, the selected of the nation, where she could live as his bride.
164 Why? She was ready. She had lived and been the kind of a woman that he wanted. It happened just at the spare of the moment.

Consider a relaxing experience with a proven method through a profound approach to lasting pain relief. Whether it be from chronic pain, headaches, injury, trauma, stress, and more, Bowen Therapy is the way to go.
You will learn about a unique, gentle treatment that will reduce pain, relieve tension, and promote healing for the entire family, including your pets.
But first, what is Bowen Therapy?
During the 1950s, Tom Ambrose Bowen from Australia developed the Bowen Technique and called it a “Gift From God”. Tom desired to ease human pain and suffering, which led him to notice that certain moves on the body had particular effects of relieving pain for the sufferer.
Bowen Therapy is a uniquely gentle, non-invasive, relaxing, yet very effective hands-on approach. It stimulates the body to heal itself with minimal intervention by gently using thumbs and fingers.
The therapist makes a series of precise moves at specific points over your muscles, and tendons just beneath soft tissue called fascia. These gentle moves deliver signals to the nervous system, and your amazing body does the rest. It responds in its own time and right where the healing needs to take place.
Who would benefit from Bowen Therapy and how?
Bowen is an amazing therapy that benefits humans from infants to the elderly. For example, your newborn may experience trauma during a difficult birth. It will pleasantly surprise you, how the Bowen gentle touch makes a distressed little one relaxed and content.
Colic is another upsetting symptom for your baby in which this method can treat successfully. You also will find that children experiencing asthma and other ailments will undergo great relief with this procedure. This soothing treatment will give you peace of mind for your child's comfort again.
No matter at what age you may have experienced pain caused by injury, either from sports or an accident. Bowen Therapy is your go-to for healing and damage repair, including for improving poor posture. The Bowen Technique also promotes relaxation for an aching and de-energized body from everyday life. It rebalances your system and gives you a better nights’ sleep naturally.
The elderly will appreciate reduced arthritic pain in joints and muscle damage, and other discomforts with the application of the Bowen Technique when nothing else has worked. It strengthens the immune system, relieves stress, and promotes all-around healing for a hurting body.
Even your pets will reap the healing and well-being effects of this humane method of healing and will thank you for it. Animals are very intelligent and seem to know when someone is trying to ease their pain or discomfort, just by this special touch.
What other areas can Bowen Therapy promote lasting pain relief?
Headaches and Migraines can be extremely painful, making it very difficult to carry on with even simple daily tasks. Stressful challenges from day-to-day life, whether it be at work, home, or even on a trip can cause undue tension.
Constant pain in your back, knees, shoulders, or other areas, whether from injuries or chronic, all hinder the quality of your daily life. Medical and other methods of therapy only help temporarily.
Digestion problems, respiratory issues, kidney and bladder infections, adrenal exhaustion, hypertension, and other physical problems all need special attention to give the sufferer relief without side effects.
Expectant mothers and infants are an entire world of their own, needing special care and pampering. The regular maintenance of Bowen Therapy treatments can bring comfort through your entire pregnancy and delivery helping you prepare for any potential difficulties.
Bowen treatments can provide all-around physical maintenance to keep you running at your best, whether you or your pet.

Activated Charcoal is a lifesaver in more ways than one, and something you should always have in your kitchen and medicine cabinet. It dates back to Ancient Egypt and has miraculous properties for poison relief and more.
What in the World is Activated Charcoal?
Charcoal is merely charred wood. It delays fallen wood from rotting, such as with a forest fire. This exciting discovery has been very useful in human health.
Now Activated Charcoal is charcoal that is specially prepared through a process of very high temperatures. This action activates it to increase its adsorptive power. Meaning, it can attract drugs, poisons, toxins, and infection to itself. This creates the opportunity for the body to heal.
Where Do You Find This Powerful Adsorbent?
You can purchase Activated Charcoal online from several sources mentioned below. It is great to know it is readily available for our use. However, in case you haven't purchased any ready-made, homemade is still very effective.
Drs. Agatha Thrash, M.D. & Calvin Thrash, M.D. have a very informative book out titled, RX Charcoal. Sunfield, MI. Family Health Publications LLC, 1988.
In their book, on pages 8-9, they describe how to make your own charcoal by using pure hardwood. Simply by making it from your own fireplace or from your outside campfire. They mention that you will need to use two to three times more of the amount than the activated product, yet the benefits are just as effective.
This Age-Old Remedy Has Many Uses
This wonderful property has many effective uses from relieving diarrhea and poisoning to treating bites and infection when applied properly. The Thrashes mention many amazing stories and testimonies of what this remedy has done for people.
There is a case report concerning diarrhea during a camping trip on (pages 39-40) of Thrashs' book mentioned above. The report tells of a group of girls and their leader experiencing diarrhea after eating some food they brought. The leader had remembered the healing properties of charcoal and made some from their campfire. The girls that took some felt much better within the hour, while others who did not take it remained sick.
Another case report was a brown recluse spider bite. (Thrash M.D. page 70-71)
This case was of a 60-year-old man who experienced a frightening brown recluse spider bite. The doctors wanted to do immediate surgery of the removal of his thumb and some flesh surrounding the area. Not wanting to go that route, the man contacted the Thrash M.D. couple who helped him save his thumb following the instructions they gave him using this miraculous adsorbent.
Another Valuable Source
John Dinsley also has excellent information on charcoal uses and amazing testimonies. His book is titled Charcoal Remedies.com, Remnant Publications, Coldwater MI, 2005.
On page 129, Dinsley tells about Dr. Wynn using charcoal, mostly in instances of pain. He added flaxseed to the charcoal poultice because of its own anti-inflammatory properties.
On pages 129 and 130, Dinsley also mentions how you can use charcoal with no harmful effects. You can learn to make poultices and apply them to painful areas on your body from head to foot. He says relief can be within a half-hour.
The author also states that a charcoal bath-soak may be even more suitable depending on the injury. You should read his book to become better informed on how to implement each of these steps properly.
My Personal Experiences with Activated Charcoal
My daughters and I have had several great personal experiences with medicinal charcoal. In one instance, my eldest daughter was mowing the lawn in flip-flops. A small piece of copper wire flew into her ankle area and would not come out. So I made a poultice of activated charcoal and applied it to her ankle. I covered it with plastic wrap to keep it moist and changed it throughout the day. On the third day, it drew the piece of copper out.
My youngest daughter stepped on a one-inch thorn. (My girls hated to wear shoes). We could not get the thorn out as it was too far into her heel. I applied the poultice and changed it two to three times a day. And on the third day, it came out with a little puss on the bandage, but no further infection.
We each have had upset stomachs or food poisoning a few times. We would take a teaspoon to a tablespoon of activated charcoal mixed in a glass of water and within the hour, always felt much better. I have also made charcoal poultices for my dogs when they have either had an infection from injury or to draw out the dreadful foxtail weed. I have had positive results each time I have used this simple miracle remedy.
And recently I have experienced the most unpleasant skin infections, the first time from a small cat scratch and the second time from a playful dog scratch. My arm developed an angry red rash and swelling with weeping fluid coming out of the pores. I soaked my arm in charcoal water and applied charcoal poultices several times a day and overnight. Within two weeks, my arm had recovered completely. I am so thankful for God's age-old remedies.
Activated Charcoal in Your Kitchen is a Must
You will want to always keep Activated Charcoal in your kitchen and medicine cabinet when you realize its value to your health. If there is only one first-aid item you could take with you overseas or most any place, activated charcoal would be your best choice.
There are several wonderful options through Amazon.com such as Schizandu Organics Activated Hardwood Charcoal Powder Vegan 100% Pure, and Plant Guru 100% Activated Charcoal derived from coconut, that I have used. Belle Chemical brand and Anthony's are also good choices as well as others depending on your own research on what you would like to try, whether powder form (which I prefer) or capsules.
There are so many wonderful factual benefits of homeschooling your children. But we will go over some top benefits that can make a vast difference in the quality of their education and overall well-being.
Quality time with Mom and Dad
Quality time with Mom and Dad is a number one reason to teach your children at home. First, it is important that your heart is prayerfully ready to take on this high calling. And that you make definite preparations for success in your child's learning.
This time spent together is an exceptional learning time for both student and teacher. Together you can attend a homeschool convention or research online for the best curriculum for your child or children. There are so many wonderful choices available.
You have the option to create a classroom environment or a more relaxing setup. It depends on personalities, interactions, and interests.
Keeping their faith
Once upon a time, America was all about freedom of religion. However, we still live in the best country to do so. Teaching our children the way we believe through their schooling at home gives them purpose in keeping their faith. Through this process, they learn to uphold a high standard.
Including the teachings of your faith with your children creates an additional bond that is priceless. It gives them direction and understanding in their choices to become healthy, responsible adults for both God and man.
"The future of this nation depends on the Christian training of our youth."
~George Washington~
The classroom of nature
Then there is the added joy of taking your classroom out in nature. Your child may even like to take his book up into a tree and just read into the sunset!
Science is one of the wonderful subjects to incorporate in your nature classroom. Charlotte Mason was a successful British pioneer teacher in the 1800s. She always believed her students should only be inside a building at their desk until noon, and immediately outdoors after that.
Charlotte also encouraged the use of rich literature and “living books” rather than stale textbooks and meaningless reading. Her teaching style asks the student to retell or “narrate” everything he can remember from the reading. Charlotte taught that each child is a person and should be educated as a whole person, and not just his mind.
Check out simplycharlottemason.com to find out more about the wonderful educational ideas available for your children and for you!
There are also several wonderful books written by Charlotte Mason or about her, that is highly recommended such as The Outdoor Life of Children: The Importance of Nature Study and Outside Activities (Charlotte Mason Topics) found on Amazon.com
More benefits of homeschooling in a relaxed atmosphere
Another wonderful benefit is the satisfaction of studying without unnecessary peer pressure. This includes the pressure of the crowded or distracting public classroom environment.
Your child-student can work his or her assignments in a relaxing atmosphere. This peaceful setting creates an opportunity to complete homework more successfully.
To understand this approach more, another recommended resource to read is; A Charlotte Mason Companion: Personal Reflections on the Gentle Art of Learning.
The choice of more structure
Or you can have the option of more structure, whatever works best for your child and you. It can be fun for both you and your children to set up an extra room in your house just for school. The kids can each have their own desk or one large table, depending on the space you have. Decorating your home-classroom together makes it even more exciting.
Having a schedule for class adds to the desired structure. But the occasional flexibility of skipping class that day for a spontaneous event is another nice advantage, not to mention when it is necessary.
Quality time between siblings
What is even more beneficial for each child is the quality time brothers and sisters can have with each other. Not to mention using each of their own personal strengths to help their struggling siblings along in certain subjects. Children can have unique ways of explaining a difficult problem better than we adults.
This rare interaction between brothers and sisters can develop trust amongst each other, creating memories they will cherish as they grow up. This can turn learning into more than just school time, but valuable family time.
The overall benefits of homeschooling
The top overall benefits of homeschooling are definitely something to consider in your decision to teach your own children. You only have each child once, and every year with them will be rewarding. You can never overestimate the time spent with your children!
The special experiences you will gain in taking advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity are beyond adequate words. They say that the teacher learns more than the student, and that is so true. For not only does your child learn from what you diligently teach them, but you, as the teacher, will learn and remember more than you realize.
